On April 7, 2010, I formally announced my withdrawal from the race to become Georgia's 8th Congressional District Representative. While I was disappointed at the turn of events that led to my leaving, I'm grateful for all the lessons I've learned and the wonderful friends I've made along the way. (BONAIRE, GA) Today Valerie Meyers, Republican congressional candidate for Georgia’s 8th District signed the Club for Growth’s Repeal It! pledge to sponsor and support legislation to repeal any federal health care takeover passed in 2010.
“The government and the healthcare industry have become increasingly interdependent and intertwined,” Meyers said. “So much so now that many of our tax dollars go toward government sponsored healthcare programs and initiatives. This leads to Georgians receiving back only a portion of tax dollars sent in to Washington for healthcare with many strings attached. I will only support legislation that puts the people back in control of their own care and the care of their family.”
